About Me
Besides my teaching and activism work, I have lots of other interests!
Music has been a big part of my life since elementary school when I started taking piano lessons. I played flute in my middle school and high school bands, took private lessons for six years, and played in the Oregon Marching Band for three years while I attended the University of Oregon. I also play guitar and was a part of the camp band while I was working at Hidden Valley Camp! I love playing music for my own expression and find great joy in creating it with other people.
I also was involved in theater during my teenage years and although I haven't been in a production for a while, I still have a soft spot in my heart for improv games! Getting into theater was such a big step for me, since I was very shy kid growing up and was absolutely terrified of public speaking. As I slowly got more comfortable acting on stage, I also got more comfortable giving presentations in class and grew more confident in other areas of my life as well. I still love watching plays, especially musicals and Shakespeare.

Finally, I grew up hiking, camping, and backpacking a lot with my parents and have continued these practices in my adult life, from summiting South Sister to completing the 40-mile Timberline Trail around Mt. Hood! When I was 10, my family moved to a 15-acre farm and a lot of my teenage years were spent helping pick apples, milk the goats, weed the vegetable garden, and collect eggs from the chickens. In 2019, I attended the Wilderness Awareness School where I learned bushcraft skills (like how to start a fire with a bow drill) as well as tracking skills, plant medicine, and permaculture! After that, I earned my Permaculture Design Certificate from Earth Activist Training. In the last few years, I have gotten really into birding as well. So far, I have seen and identified 205 different species of birds! You can check out more bird photos on my photography page.
