Leadership:
PR Coordinator
I joined CJL Steering as the PR Coordinator for the 2015-16 school year. My main jobs were to update our social media platforms, mainly facebook and twitter, and send out weekly emails to our listserv. I also took it upon myself to redo our website and update it throughout the year. As part of the Divest UO campaign, I also reached out to local news outlets about our rallies and marches. Finally, I started the initiative to create a video about CJL to use as a PR tool. Although I wasn't able to finish it during my year as PR Coordinator, I created a new Media Coordinator position for the following year to help ensure this project, along with other media projects, would be accomplished.

Co-Director
I became Co-Director of CJL as a junior for the 2016-17 school year and continued this position for the 2017-18 school year. As a co-director, I led steering meetings and facilitated general meetings, mentored other steering members, responded to email, reserved rooms, and directed the club as a whole in alignment with our mission statement.
This position provided many challenges, especially due to a large graduating class leading to a drastic change in leadership in the club. However, this change also provided many opportunities for personal growth and the growth of the club. My leadership and meeting facilitating skills greatly improved over the last year and the club became more inclusive and gained reputation among students and the administration. |
Campaigns:
Divest UO
I joined the Divest UO campaign in winter of 2015 and became heavily involved throughout the 2015-16 school year. We held multiple rallies and marches, as well as a 35-day sit-in at the administration building. Our goal was to have the UO Foundation sell its investments (divest) from all fossil fuel companies.
After several years of the campaign, which gained much support from university students, faculty, and the Eugene community, the UO Foundation released a statement in fall 2016, announcing its intentions to let its carbon-based investments expire. While this was not complete divestment, we decided to suspend the campaign in hopes to continue our relationship with the Foundation. CAP the Carbon
We officially started the CAP the Carbon campaign in January 2017, after attending a meeting with President Schill where he accepted our proposal of creating a new Climate Action Plan (CAP) for the university. Read more about the background of this proposal here.
Since then, we met again with President Schill and I joined an advisory committee comprised primarily of administrators with the goal of writing a new 5-year CAP by December 2017. From January-June of 2017 I served as an interim campaign coordinator for this campaign, before passing off this role in the fall. |
